Sample Size Calculator
Calculating the ideal sample size is more than just estimating the number of surveys to send. It begins with determining the size of your target population and the level of accuracy you expect from your results. Just follow the instructions below to get started - it's easy!
Follow these easy steps to use the Sample Size Calculator
- Double click on the Population Size box and enter the number of potential respondents to your survey
- Slide the Confidence Level gauge to percentage of certainty that your survey results are within the margin of error. Researchers use the 95% confidence level - this means that you would expect to get results within the margin of error 95% of the time.
- Using the Error Band gauge, indicate the margin of error or the amount of faith you have that your survey results are close to "true" figures. A 95% confidence level with a 5 point margin of error means that the true answer lies between +/- 5 points from the percentage observed.
- The "Sample Size Needed" gauge will tell you how many survey respondents you will need to achieve the Confidence Level at the Error Band range you designated.
